Lewisville ISD will utilize a research-based classroom curriculum to increase awareness of teen depression and anxiety among secondary students. Our mission is to empower students to comfortably and confidently seek help for friends or themselves who may be depressed or suicidal. Click here to access parent information on early mental health intervention. We will be completing these early mental health lessons during our advisory time with students. If you DO NOT want your student to participate in the Early Mental Health Intervention (EMHI) Curriculum, please return the Opt Out form in the link above to your child’s campus counselor and your student will be sent to an alternate location during the EMHI lessons.

March: EMHI (Early Mental Health Intervention): It is our goal in the LISD Counseling and Social Work Department to keep parents informed on subjects that our students could face. On 3/30, LISD will use our Early Mental Health Intervention (EMHI) Spring lesson as an effort to increase awareness of teen depression and suicidal ideation. You have the opportunity to review lessons prior to their implementation and opt your student out of the EMHI Lessons if you wish. Please click here to find the lessons and supporting documents.

April: Senate Bill 9: As a reminder, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) requires anti-victimization lessons be taught in all public schools. Texas legislature also requires parents/guardians to opt-in to these lessons. In 9th-12th grade, we will cover the SB9 topics Links on the prevention of Child Abuse, Dating Violence, Family Violence, and Sex Trafficking. Parents/Guardians completed the Senate Bill 9 (SB9) Consent Form as part of Student Registration in Skyward Family Access Links.
